About
Hi, I am Beth Britton, the craftsman or rather craftswoman behind BnB Crafts. I turn every piece of wood, resin, and combination of both on my small lathe that I bring to some shows.
In addition to the hand turned handles and pen barrels, I stretch my creative flair with the color concoctions available in resin poured items.
As a young girl, I enjoyed watching and helping my Pop Pop design practical tables out of lumber. This started my interest in woodworking.
When my family moved to Western New York, I became heavily involved in the construction of our storage shed and the remodeling of our 19th century farmhouse.
Rummaging through my grandfather’s things, I discovered planes…not the type that you fly (though that would have been awesome) but the carpenter’s tool that smooths rough edges and levels the surface.
Even though my grandfathers had a flair with the wood plane, I saw more intrigue with the lathe and router that I discovered on my own.
Sometime in 2017, I started watching You Tube videos about woodturning. I thought it was really cool that you could take a block of wood and make something amazing and functional out of it. I decided to buy a small lathe and start turning.
Initially, I made a couple rolling pins for my cousins and a pizza cutter handle for my parents.
One day I was at a local woodworking store buying material for my next project and one of the workers suggested I try making pens. So I did. This has opened a whole new opportunity.
